Spots to Explore
Every traveler experiences a destination differently, and that’s part of what makes river cruising so special—you’re not just visiting places, you’re discovering how they resonate with you. On my Danube journey, I filmed moments that stood out to me so you can get a genuine feel for what it’s like to wake up in these cities, walk their streets, and take in their history and culture.
Passau & Bavarian Festival
Our 7-night AmaWaterways cruise began in Vilshofen with a Bavarian festival, then we explored Passau and hiked to Veste Oberhaus for breathtaking Danube views—an unforgettable start to the adventure!
Salzburg & Sound of Music
Our next stop took us from Linz to Salzburg, stopping at Mondsee and exploring Salzburg’s historic sites, ending with a Chef’s Table dinner and a visit to Castle Greinburg overlooking the Danube.
Wachau Valley & Wine Tasting
Biking and hiking through Austria’s Wachau Valley, we ended the day with a private wine tasting at Klosterhof—scenic views, vineyards, and live music made it unforgettable.
Vienna Bike Tour & Schönbrunn Palace
In Vienna, we biked 11 miles past iconic landmarks like the Opera House and Imperial Palace, then toured the opulent Schönbrunn Palace and gardens—an unforgettable mix of adventure and history.
Bratislava & Tastes of Slovakia
In Bratislava, we played pickleball on the AmaMagna, joined a travel talk with Samantha Brown, and savored Slovak culture through craft beer, local bites, and a festive Captain’s Gala dinner.
A Surprise Ending to Our Danube River Cruise
Our Danube journey ended with pickleball, castle views, and a lively Hungarian dinner—then a flight delay gifted us a bonus day to relax at Rudas Baths and soak in Budapest’s beauty.
